An Upside Down Bald Eagle!!!

As a lifelong birder I have seen many bald eagles....however, only ONCE have I seen an eagle turn over and fly upside down! It's an amazing sight. Our photographer was lucky to also see a bald eagle turn over while flying and this photo is the result. Imagine the eagle with a possible wingspan of 6 FEET accomplishing this activity in air. 

We are showing this photo on the Inspirational page too. When have you thought to yourself, I can't do that. Let this bald eagle be your inspiration. Perhaps, it CAN be done!

Eagles do have "eagle eyes." They can see four to five times better than humans. This vision allows them to see small prey like rabbits as far as two miles away.

This large 16x20" or 20 x 30" photo was taken by our fabulous photographer. The 1st photo showed an angry pelican who had an empty beak since an Osprey had taken the fisth. This is the 2nd photo that was taken a second later. Note the fish the Osprey has in its talons. We call the photo of the angry pelican "Where's My Dinner?" This photo shows the Osprey with the pelican's "dinner" in its talons. Purchase both photos for the "story."

The Osprey's nickname is "fish hawk". Ospreys' unique talons allow them to rearrange their catch, while flying, so that the fish faces forward as they carry it to eat. Osprey's wingspan is 5 feet. Not a small bird.

The brown bear derives 90% of its diet from plants. It can weigh over 1,000 lbs - so, being a vegetarian doesn't guarantee a slim body! The brown bear has one of the largest brains in an animal. They can be quite clever. Notice the teeth in the open mouth.

Brown Bear is resting on a tree trunk that extends over a pond. This relaxing photo also has the bear's image on the water. An extraordinary moment in time that Bob was able to capture for us with his photographic skills and his patience. 

Brown Bears have a lifespan of 20-30 years in the wild. Their maximum speed is 35 mph!!! It can take 270 days for gestation...similar to a human.

These Bull & Bear Bookends are different than most choices. The animals have more "character." The bull has its tail twitched and high, its head down and charging. You can "feel" its muscles, they are well sculpted. The bear tends to be more passive. It peeks around the corner of the books it is guarding!
