There are many species of ducks. As an example, we'll look at the PinTail. It breeds in Alaska and Canada. It migrates through the upper Mid-East and lives at some time in all 50 states each year. It's interesting how many of our birds breed in Canada.

Whether you're a birder or a hunter, ducks are sought. Baby ducks bring us joy. A duck entree is enjoyed by many.

This duck statue shows a duck taking off - destination unknown. It is made of resin and has been electroplated with bronze for a lasting finish. Very well sculpted with feathers seen on the raised wings. Enjoy!

Did you know that some Mallards migrate? Migrating mallards have been clocked flying at 55 miles per hour, faster than the average waterfowl. They ususally crew around 10,000 feet but can go higher. Once a mallard was struck by a commercial airliner at 21,000 feet!

The male mallard has the beautiful emerald green head while the female is quite muted with shades of brown. Males mate with as many females as they can.

This mallard statue is made of bronze in the USA. In the statue you see a mallard just before it lands with it's feet and wings extended. Sculptor did a good job creating each feather.

The Northern Pintail Duck is a favorite. With a population around 5.5 million birds, it is also one of the most common ducks in the United States. When flying, you see the long middle feathers of the tail, thus identifying the species and providing the reason for the duck's name.

The Pin Tail Duck statue is made of bronze and was created in the USA. It's definitely an original design. Since the Pin Tail frequently lives in marshes, the sculptor has created a couple of reeds where the pintail is going to land. The long middle tail feathers are present, the web feet, and the lowered wings. Feathers are depicted. A lot of thought occurred when this sculpture was created.

Large photo of Pileated Woodpecker. Two sizes (vertical) : 20" H x 16" or 30" H x 20". 

Pileated Woodpecker is one of 22 woodpecker species in USA. It is the largest one and is 3 times longer than the small Downy Woodpecker. The shade of the head with the bright red is very distinctive and is an easy bird to identify. This photo shows the pileated on the side of a tree with its bill extended. The bird can drum close to 17 beats per second!

In the winter Pileated Woodpeckers roosts by itself. The male woodpecker often uses the same hole used for nesting; the female will create a new hole to sleep in. The Pileated Woodpecker rarely nests in the same tree twice.

If you collect roosters, bet you don't have this one! This gorgeous guy, our Rooster - Cock-A-Doodle-Do, has been mouth blown using a mixture of glass colors - similar to Murano glass. No two roosters are exactly alike since they are hand made; but, they are quite similar.

One of the most beautiful and sought after birds in the United States is the Rosette Spoonbill. Bob, our photographer, caught this glorious photo. The rosette is a brillance of pink and you can clearly see the spoonbill shape of the bill. In fact, you can see a chip off the bill. As we age, humans experience hair loss. Roseate Spoonbills are familiar with balding too, but instead of losing hair they lose feathers from the top of their head as they get older.

Did you know? Owls can rotate their heads and necks as much as 270°. Owls have 14 neck vertebrae compared to seven in humans.
