Did you know a female alligator seldom exceeds 10 feet, while a male can be much longer and weigh up to 1,000 lbs. Nearly all alligators become sexually mature by the time they reach 7 feet. A female may require 10-15 years and a male 8-12 years to reach these lengths.

Exclusive large photo of Loving Burrowing Owls. Bob, our internationally acclaimed wildlife photographer has captured these two owls in a very sweet position, nestled against each other. Can you imagine how many hours were spent before he was able to capture a pose like this? You have a choice of two sizes. The large size is 16 x 20" and the Extra large size is 20 x 30".

Burrowing owls are our ONLY raptor in North America to nest exclusively underground. I've seen them along runways of airports. Might get hit by a plane, but animals and humans are kept away. Owls eat at night, but not the burrowing owl. It eats in the day. And, they don't DIG their homes but use holes dug by others.

You see a pelican with bill wide open quite mad...why? Look at the Osprey flying away...check out the fish the osprey has in its talons. You guessed it! The fish had been in the bill of the pelican..but, no more! How fun! How many people in the world have seen this happen...we know one person who saw captured the moment in this photo.

White pelicans can fly for 24 hours at speed up to 35 mph. However, when hunting for dinner, they fly quite slow. They are also one of the few birds that can fly at high altitudes, around 10,000 feet. 

This large 16x20" or 20 x 30" photo was taken by our fabulous photographer. The 1st photo showed an angry pelican who had an empty beak since an Osprey had taken the fisth. This is the 2nd photo that was taken a second later. Note the fish the Osprey has in its talons. We call the photo of the angry pelican "Where's My Dinner?" This photo shows the Osprey with the pelican's "dinner" in its talons. Purchase both photos for the "story."

The Osprey's nickname is "fish hawk". Ospreys' unique talons allow them to rearrange their catch, while flying, so that the fish faces forward as they carry it to eat. Osprey's wingspan is 5 feet. Not a small bird.

An Upside Down Bald Eagle!!!

As a lifelong birder I have seen many bald eagles....however, only ONCE have I seen an eagle turn over and fly upside down! It's an amazing sight. Our photographer was lucky to also see a bald eagle turn over while flying and this photo is the result. Imagine the eagle with a possible wingspan of 6 FEET accomplishing this activity in air. 

We are showing this photo on the Inspirational page too. When have you thought to yourself, I can't do that. Let this bald eagle be your inspiration. Perhaps, it CAN be done!

Eagles do have "eagle eyes." They can see four to five times better than humans. This vision allows them to see small prey like rabbits as far as two miles away.
