So many feathers are visible on this 7 inch bronze eagle statue. Because the core of the statue is made of resin, the sculptor is able to create very realistic feathers - and lots of them!

Did you know that an eagle's feathers are made from keratin? The same material as our fingernails.

The feathers on the wings have space between them illustrating the eagle is slowing its flight as it descends. If you personalize, maximum length of plaque is 1-3/4 inch x 1/2 inch.

This bald eagle is very focused on its prey with its talons extended and eyes ablaze. Bob, the photographer is a recognized international wildlife photographer. After becoming an Endangered Bird in 1967 due to DDT, a lot of effort to save our national symbol allowed the bald eagle to re-populate and was removed from the endangered list 40 years later in 2007.

A couple of fun facts about bald eagles. #1 They are one of a very few birds that can fly as high as 10,000 feet! #2 Their eyesight is 8x better than ours!

An Upside Down Bald Eagle!!!

As a lifelong birder I have seen many bald eagles....however, only ONCE have I seen an eagle turn over and fly upside down! It's an amazing sight. Our photographer was lucky to also see a bald eagle turn over while flying and this photo is the result. Imagine the eagle with a possible wingspan of 6 FEET accomplishing this activity in air.

Eagles do have "eagle eyes." They can see four to five times better than humans. This vision allows them to see small prey like rabbits as far as two miles away.

The Founding Fathers chose the bald eagle as the emblem of the nation in 1782. Bald Eagle can be fierce and is fairly independent. It aptly symbolizes the strength and freedom of United States of America.
