Eagle - In for the Kill! What a great angle of an eagle for this statue. As it banks, the eagle's wings are fully extended and the feathers have space as it slows for the kill. Both talons are extended. Tail is fanned. You really see the aerodynamics of the flight of the eagle.

Bronze eagle is 17-1/2 inch high. A resin core has been electroplated with bronze for a lasting finish. Wooden base has 6 inch diameter. Due to the curvature of base, length of plaque is limited to 3 inches.

Because the core of this beautiful Eagle is made of resin, the detail is awesome. Look at each feather. The detail is awesome. with space between the feathers, the eagle is allowing air to flow - allowing the eagle to descend.

The eagle has had a perilous journey in United States. In 1963 the Bald Eagle was added to the Endangered list in USA - due to DDT. At that time there were only 417 pairs remaining. The use of DDT had begun in the 1950's and was found in much of the food eagle's ate. In 1972 - 20 years - later USA finally recognized the problem and banned DDT. Without DDT the population of eagles has soared to 9,700 pairs in 2020 in the lower 48 states. Many more live in Alaska. In 2007 the eagle was removed from the Endangered list. Good news!

Thus, the eagle as our national symbol and as a thank you for getting rid of DDT must love the United States as much as we do!

Eagle Parent has two squawking babies  on the nest.  The eagle has a look of bewilderment.  Just like human parents who don't understand what's happening.
