The Rosette Spoonbill is one of the most sought after birds in the United States. And, it is on the endangered list.

Rosette Spoonbills have a wingspan of 4-5 feet. Males are slightly larger than Females. Check out it's unusual beak...yes, it looks like a spoon! If you spy a young spoonbill, it is affectionately called a teaspoon!

White pelicans can fly for 24 hours at speed up to 35 mph. However, when hunting for dinner, they fly quite slow. They are also one of the few birds that can fly at high altitudes, around 10,000 feet.

We cannot tell gender. The female Blue Jay is normally slightly smaller. If you spend much time with Blue Jays you will soon be able to identify each bird. No two jays are the same. Colors of feathers are different between two birds...but the final result looks so similar that most people think all jays look the same. Check out the white feathers between these two jays. You might decide to name your local birds as you check their individual markings.
