Teamwork Rowers:

Rowing together is a great symbol of teamwork. Any crew is aware of how important each individual rower is to the whole. Have you read the book "The Boys in the Boat"? A 2014 book written about the University of Washington crew during Hitler's reign. They won the Olympic Gold Metal. Fascinating book about what it's like to crew and be a member of a boat. The Thinker by Auguste Rodin is one of the most famous art sculptures in the western world. It was a work that evolved. In 1888, the Thinker went on exhibit. In 1904, the statue was molded into a bigger, more impressive version. In 1906 it was placed in front of the French Panthéon.

Rodin famously said about The Thinker: "He does not think only with his brain, with his frowning eyebrow, his spread nostrils and his pursed lips, but also with every muscle in his arms, back and legs, his clenched fists and clenched toes."

Isn't it interesting how a statue that doesn't move can express so much.

Our statue is made of bronze in the USA. It is an adaption of Rodin's.  Our Thinker is glued onto a black marble base. The base can be personalized with a plaque. Maximum length 2-1/2 inch, height 2". You could have 6 lines of text.

The top of the sculpture has a solid nickel alloy figurine placing stepping blocks over a series of crystal ledges. The figurine is following through with his plan to cross the chasm. The scene very much conveys activity and application of ideas. The solid crystal ledges are attached to a solid rich mahogany colored wood base and attached with a reflective metal sheet on the top of the base.

"Think Outside The Box" is a bronzed sculpture using the theme of Thinking outside the Box.

A person is sitting on the back of a chair with its feet on the seat of the chair deep in thought. The chair appears to have a spring under it. It looks as if this item is also inspired by a jack-in-the-box. The lid to the box is in the back of the image. On the side of the box are the words "Think Outside the Box."

A serious, yet, whimsical decor for a stockbroker's office.

The Thinker is a famous statue. It has a man leaning over his right elbow placed on his left thigh, holding the weight of his chin on the back of his right hand. 

The statue was originally created in 1880 and named The Poet. In 1904 the sculptor, Auguste Rodin, decided to recreate his own. It was cast in 1910. It is on displace at The Met in NYC.

There are moments in life where contemplation is good. The Thinker provides that message.

There is a very personal reason we post this item. Perhaps, it resonates with you too. Recently, I went to a Holocaust Museum.  

My guide stated: In 1930 Lithuania, about 10% of its population were Jews...about 200,000 people. 180,000 of them were killed. Of the 180,000 killed, what people don't realize was that about 140,000 were killed in their own town...typically by gun shot. Only 40,000 died outside of town at concentration camps, etc. It was pointed out that a rifle shot can be heard 3 miles away. Every time a Jew was shot and killed, so more than 140,000 times, people in Lithuania heard the sound....but they did nothing...the population of "locals" was much larger than the number of "Nazi's"....yet, the locals did nothing to stop the killing....and in just one country there were 180,000 Jews killed.

Hopefully, we can learn from this experience. However, the news today questions that is happening. If there is an issue you, or your organization, feel strongly about - could be a social issue, a local issue, whatever revs your engine, you can purchase this.
